Bellegarde du Razes
A small and peaceful medieval 'Circulade', besieged in turn by Simon de Montfort (leader of the Albigensian Crusade against the Cathars) and the Black Prince on his famous 'Chevauchée' from coast to coast.
BELLEGARDE-DU-RAZES enjoys excellent views of the Pyrenees and Black Mountains and is surrounded by gentle rolling countryside, vineyards and sunflower fields.
It is conveniently situated 5k west of BELVEZE- DU- RAZES on the Dl8 and only 15 minutes from the A61 Autoroute. Take some time to wander around the village and chat to the friendly local people. The unique and charming clock chimes must be heard! From the village you can enjoy walking, cycling or have use of the sports pitch - football, volley ball, basket ball and of course boules pitch. Here you can join in the local weekly BBQ if you wish.
The village has a post office and public telephone and, in addition, a comprehensive range of shops, bank, chemist and cafe can be found in the larger village of BELVEZE. This is only 3 miles away and also has a leisure lake, tennis courts, public swimming pool and other amenities, including English-speaking doctor and dentist.
